Q. Is it true that Sears advertised and sold bonds through the catalog during World War II?

A. As is shown in the spring 1942 Chicago edition catalog, on page 235, Sears placed ads that encouraged customers to buy war bonds. However, the ad refers customers to their local postmasters to purchase the bonds; Sears did not sell war bonds directly through the catalog.
