Q. Could you please help me find out more about an old sewing machine that I bought at a garage sale? The former owners believe it was bought at Sears in the 1920s or so. It has the word "Elmore" written on the front and is part of a large wooden stand with four drawers. The pedal part of the machine has a scroll/flower-type pattern to it.

A. We found your machine listed on page 769 of the spring 1916 Chicago edition catalog. It sold for $10.85 and was considered the economy model.
